What happens when you call Steadfast about water damage
A water loss is a sequence, and the order matters. Here is how a typical residential water damage job in the Tri-Valley runs from the first call to the last coat of paint.
- Hour 0 · The call
Stop the water, dispatch a crew
We walk you through the process of what to do immediately and send a crew. We are on call around the clock, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Hour 1 · On site
Inspection and extraction
Find the source, identify every affected room and material, and start pulling standing water with truck-mounted and portable extractors. Teams are usually on site within about an hour, depending on where you are in the Tri-Valley.
- Day 1 · Mapping
Moisture mapping and containment
Moisture meters and thermal imaging find the water you cannot see: inside wall cavities, under flooring, behind cabinets. Wet materials that cannot be salvaged are removed. Containment keeps dust and humidity out of the rest of the house.
- Days 1 to 4 · Drying
Structural drying and daily moisture readings
Commercial dehumidifiers and air movers run under monitored conditions. We take readings daily and pull equipment only when the materials reach dry standard, not when the surface feels dry.
- Throughout · Paperwork
Photos, readings, and scope for your adjuster
Every step is documented with photos, moisture logs, and a written scope. Most sudden water losses are covered by homeowners insurance, and this file is what your adjuster needs to approve the work.
- After · Rebuild
Reconstruction by our construction crew
Steadfast is a licensed California contractor with its own construction crew, so drywall, insulation, flooring, cabinets, trim, and paint are handled in house. A separate crew, the same company, one scope. Every rebuild carries a 2-year warranty on workmanship. See water damage reconstruction.
What kinds of water damage do you handle?
Any sudden or hidden water loss in a home or commercial building. The most common calls we get in Pleasanton, Livermore, and Dublin are:
- Burst or leaking supply lines, including under-sink and toilet supply lines
- Failed water heaters and slab leaks
- Dishwasher, washing machine, and refrigerator line overflows
- Toilet and tub overflows, including from upstairs bathrooms
- Roof leaks and storm intrusion
- Water left behind after firefighting (see fire and smoke restoration)
- Sewage and drain backups, which are handled as contaminated water (see sewage cleanup)
Why do the first 48 hours matter so much?
Because building materials keep absorbing water long after the leak stops, and mold can begin growing on damp drywall, wood, and insulation within 24 to 48 hours. Drywall wicks water upward. Subfloor and sill plates hold it for weeks. A surface that feels dry to the hand can read 30 percent or higher on a meter. Fast extraction and verified drying are the difference between a three-day dry-out and a demolition.
Do you work with my insurance company?
Yes. We document the loss with photos, moisture readings, and a written scope, and we communicate directly with your adjuster so approvals move quickly. We do not file or manage the claim for you, but most homeowners find the documentation we provide is exactly what the carrier asks for. If you are not sure whether to file, we can help you think it through before you call them.
Restoration and reconstruction from one contractor
Many restoration companies dry the house and leave you to find a contractor for the rebuild. Steadfast does both, with two specialized crews. The mitigation crew stops the loss, dries the structure, and documents it. Our construction crew rebuilds from that record. That means one point of contact, one schedule, and a rebuild scope that matches the mitigation file your insurance company already has.
